Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your online accounts. It requires not only a password and username but also something that only the user has on them, such as a piece of information or physical item like a phone. This drastically reduces the chances of fraud, data loss, or identity theft.
Lotus365 is one such platform where you can set up two-factor authentication to secure your account. It’s simple and straightforward to set it up.
Firstly, sign in to your Lotus365 account with your usual login credentials. Once logged in, navigate towards the settings section found typically on the top right corner of the dashboard under your profile icon.
In settings, look for ‘Security’ or ‘Privacy’ options depending upon the version of lotus365 you are using. Click on it and then select ‘Two-Factor Authentication’. There will be an option there which says ‘Set Up Two-Factor Authentication’, click on it.
You will now be prompted to enter your mobile number where you’ll receive a verification code each time you log in from an unrecognized device or browser. Make sure to enter a reliable contact number which stays with you most times as this will serve as your second factor during authentication.
Once done entering the mobile number, click on ‘Send Code’. You should immediately receive an SMS containing a unique numerical code.
Enter this received code back into Lotus365 prompt window and hit verify. If entered correctly, Lotus365 will confirm that two-factor authentication has been successfully enabled for your account.
From now onwards each time when logging into Lotus365 from any new device or browser, after entering username and password – A unique verification code will be sent via SMS to registered mobile number which needs to be entered before gaining access into account; thus providing additional layer of security by making sure that it’s really you who is trying to access the account.
In case you’re unable to receive SMS or don’t have your phone around, you can also opt for alternative methods like email verification or using authenticator apps. These options can be set up in a similar manner as explained above.
Remember, two-factor authentication is not just about securing your account but it’s also about creating a secure environment where you and everyone else can operate without the fear of being compromised. It may seem like an extra step every time you log in, but the peace of mind that comes with knowing your information is safe is well worth the effort.
